When you have a toothache, it is difficult to concentrate on work or nearly anything else. At Spring Family Dental, your toothaches are our emergencies, and we treat them as such. There is no reason that you should have to suffer needlessly. Our 47150 dentist is committed to timely diagnosis and treatment, along with gentle care.
The most common cause of a toothache is tooth decay. Plaque and tartar erode your precious tooth enamel, leaving a cavity in the tooth, and thereby exposing the nerve. If your tooth had previous cavities, it’s very possible that the old filling came loose or even fell out. Some reasons for that include having an amalgam filling that has expanded and contracted, leaving too much space open; or a cavity that has gotten larger, and outgrown the size of the filling. No matter why, our 47150 dentist needs to put in a new filling, or to replace the one that is already there. Fortunately, this is a fairly simple process, for which some people don’t even require local anesthesia. Of course, we have it available if you do want it. Sometimes, a tooth becomes chipped or even cracked. Again, the nerve is exposed. Most such teeth can be restored with the crafting of a crown (cap) that is cemented to the tooth. Because the crown needs to be made at the dental lab, from impressions taken by our 47150 dentist, a temporary one will be fitted in the meantime. The most serious of toothaches is an infection, for which root canal is required. You need not worry, though. Today’s techniques and equipment make it a comfortable procedure, and there is at least a 90% chance that your tooth will be saved and remain strong and viable in the long term.
Please act quickly by reaching out to us when you have a toothache. Delaying treatment will only lead to your pain worsening.
